Mariah Comer, Esq. is a first-generation college student of Black and Mexican descent from Santa Ana, California. Named after the legend, Mariah Carey, she has always had a passion for music since she was a child and was destined to work in the entertainment industry.
Mariah studied at UCLA for undergrad where she received her bachelor’s degrees in Political Science, African American Studies, and Education Studies. After successfully graduating from the #1 Public University in the country, Mariah attended 1 of the 5 Ivy League law schools – Cornell Law School. Upon earning her Juris Doctorate, she passed the California Bar Exam on her first try — a testament to her discipline and intellect — and returned to Los Angeles to begin practicing law.
Aside from Mariah’s prestigious degrees, what sets her apart from other attorneys is her excellent communication skills and her natural-born drive to lead. Successfully communicating directly with the artists, management, business management, and labels on a daily basis is what made her an excellent panelist on the 2023 Music Business Association panel The A+ Team: Assembling The Right Professionals to Boost Your Career. Helping build the client’s overall brand and negotiating deals from start to finish, Mariah’s work focuses on a wide range of transactional entertainment and intellectual property matters relating to both the music industry and brand endorsements.
A true trailblazer in entertainment law, Mariah’s impact has been recognized across the industry — earning multiple honors from Variety, including Legal Impact Report (2024), Hollywood’s New Leaders (2023), and Power of Women in Hollywood (2023), along with back-to-back placements on Billboard’s Top Music Lawyers lists in 2024 and 2025.
On Mariah’s free time when she is not attending concerts or festivals, she enjoys giving back to the community by mentoring other first-generation college and law school students of color like herself.
